
On Thursday, December 14, the first internal scientific conference of the University of Belgrade - Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy - Institute of national importance for the Republic of Serbia, called "IHTM - A step forward" was held.
The one-day meeting was held in the ceremonial hall of Hotel Yugoslavia, where the scientists employed in this Institute presented their scientific results achieved in this calendar year, as well as their scientific, innovation and cooperation projects with the economy, and two start-ups were also presented companies that operate within this Institute.
On this occasion, awards were presented to the most successful researchers and praise to employees for their outstanding contribution to the development of the Institute for Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy.
This meeting was also attended by members of the Management Board of the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, the SAIGE Project Management Unit, the international advisory board of IHTM, experts from the World Bank, University of Belgrade - Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade - Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, Serbian Chemical Society, Fund for Science of the Republic of Serbia and the Association of Institutes of Serbia.
The first internal scientific conference of the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy was held under the auspices of the Acceleration Project innovation and encouraging the growth of entrepreneurship in the Republic of Serbia (Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project - SAIGE).
SAIGE project, implemented by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia in partnership with the World Bank and the European Union, supports the transformation of scientific institutes in Serbia, among which IHTM. During the first year of the IHTM transformation through the SAIGE project, many organizational and communication processes were improved, the IHTM Project and International Cooperation Office and the IHTM Technology Transfer Body were established.
The first results of the transformation are reflected in a higher success rate in the received competitive projects compared to previous years, as well as increased cooperation with the economy, including consulting services. The positive effects of the transformation are particularly reflected in the strengthening of employee motivation and better mutual connection, the outcome of which, among other things, is the event "IHTM - A step forward."

University of Belgrade - Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy - Institute of National Importance for the Republic of Serbia (IHTM) was founded in 1961. The basic activities of the Institute are fundamental and applied multidisciplinary research, the development of technological processes within chemistry, technology, microelectronics and metallurgy, as well as their application in industry, medicine and environmental protection.
Scientific research activities are carried out in six specialized Centers and two Centers of exceptional value that bring together experts and doctoral students in the fields of chemistry, physical chemistry, technology, electrical engineering, chemical and mechanical engineering, and which are supported by joint administrative services.
